"Rural Horror," my 4-minute film, draws inspiration from the eerie atmosphere of found footage horror classics such as "The Blair Witch Project" and "Skinamarink." Shot during the winter of the previous year, the footage captures the aftermath of a recent loss. The absence of this individual, who is still very much alive but no longer a presence in my immediate surroundings, left a palpable void within our home. In an attempt to convey this emotional vacuum, I embarked on documenting the haunting emptiness and unsettling quiet that lingered in the wake of their departure. Unlike a conventional loss through death, this narrative explores the unique and complex experience of a connection severed, but a person still existing in the periphery, casting a shadow over the familiar spaces we once shared.
